Blogagem erudita

The first three movements of the Barber went extremely well. The brassy tone had been polished away but the power and passion were still in place. Chen's quieter moments were dark and intense, especially in the anguished slow movement. There were a number of imaginative touches as well. In the second movement, for example, Chen brought out some unexpected inner voices, then ended the movement with an impressionistic wash of pedal.

Then came the fugue — and the second surprise. It was not a happy one.

Chen started the fugue at a very fast tempo, but seemed to be in control. Less than 30 seconds into the piece, however, the control slipped. Chen was rattled, but managed to keep going with some effort.

O evento termina dia 05.

Comentários

Duas observações:

1. Muito legal vou lá ler mais.

Vou lá no site do Van Cliburn.

Abraço.
