Se eu ficar meio offline por uns dias, não reparem. É que estou na reta final da tradução de um dos livros mais importantes da FC de todos os tempos (e da minha vida também): Neuromancer.
A história é longa e não tenho tempo de contá-la toda aqui hoje. O que dá pra dizer é que esta tradução está sendo feita para a edição especial de 25 anos do livro de mestre William Gibson (que publicou o livro pela Ace Books em 1984, mas terminou de escrevê-lo em julho de 1983).
Segundo o editor da Aleph, Adriano Piazzi, e o coordenador editorial, Delfin K., a idéia é que Neuromancer e Count Zero sejam publicados juntos. Mona Lisa Overdrive sairá na seqüência. Isso, vocês não leram errado: enfim o Brasil verá a trilogia do Sprawl completa.
Mas, para que isso se torne uma realidade, é preciso finalizar o trabalho. Me aguardem que em breve estarei de volta (ok, talvez um drops ou dois nos próximos dias pra adocar os chips de vocês ;-).

You're lucky, you know? We still don't have a Romanian edition of Mona Lisa Overdrive. Neuromancer has been published in Romanian translation first in 1993 (and reprinted last year) and Count Zero in 1999, at the same time with Burning Chrome. But, although Mona Lisa Overdrive has been translated since 1998 (a translation I have edited, so it only needed to be printed), the publisher gave up on it. So it's still unpublished, and a joint publication of the Sprawl trilogy is something of an utopia for us.
Horia, the story of the Sprawl Trilogy in Brazil would certainly make for a book of its own. We´ve been trying to get it published since 1989. The first Brazilian edition of Neuromancer was published in 1990, but it didn´t have a very long shelflife. The second, revised translation was published in 2003 and it finally got the attention it deserved. In the meantime, I translated Pattern Recognition for the same publishing house, and now they bought the other two titles. After a long, delicate translation process, the Brazilian edition is almost done (i´m here now, at home, doing the last chapters). Burning Chrome, as strange as it may seem, wasn´t published here so far (Brazilian publishers say that short story collections doesn´t sell good, so it is also kind of an utopian project for us. Not to mention all the other cyberpunks (aside Sterling´s Islands in the Net) that never got published here at all.
